Flusapex Drops general information
What is Flusapex Drops used for?
Flusapex Drops 10mg are used to treat oedema (water retention and swelling), in cats and dogs, to reduce fluid build-up in the tissues. Generalised oedema is associated with several conditions including, congestive heart failure, pulmonary oedema and severe bacterial infection. Localised peripheral oedema can be associated with surgery, trauma, toxicity such as from a snake or spider bite, or allergy. Flusapex Drops 10mg help relieve symptoms of oedema such as coughing and breathing difficulty, due to pulmonary oedema or congestive heart failure; also swelling.
How does Flusapex Drops work?
Flusapex Drops 10mg contain frusemide, a diuretic medication that acts directly on the kidneys to help remove fluid that has built up in the tissues and causes oedema. Frusemide in Flusapex Drops 10mg works at the site of the Loop of Henlé in the kidneys, which is where salts (sodium and potassium ions) are reabsorbed back into the blood to prevent the blood from becoming deficient in salts. Frusemide in Flusapex Drops 10mg inhibits the reabsorption of salts back into the blood, so that more salts are excreted into the urine and more water is removed from the blood, which increases the volume of urine that is produced and draws more water out of the tissues. Reducing the amount of water stored in the tissues reduces oedema (water retention and swelling), caused by congestive heart failure and other conditions.
