Antirobe Aquadrops general information

What is Antirobe Aquadrops used for?

Antirobe Aquadrops 25mg are used to treat bacterial infections in dogs and cats due to susceptible bacteria, including Staphylococcus, Streptococcus, Bacteriodes, Prevotella and Fusobacterium.  Antirobe Aquadrops 25mg are used in the treatment of infected wounds, abscesses, dental infections and osteomyelitis, which is an infection of the bone or bone marrow.  Osteomyelitis may be caused by an infection from another part of the body reaching the bone through the blood, or the bone may become infected from an accident involving the bone.  Antirobe Aquadrops 25mg are specially formulated for treatment of bacterial infections in dogs and cats.

How does Antirobe Aquadrops work?

Antirobe Aquadrops 25mg contain the antibiotic clindamycin, a lincosamide antibiotic with bacteriostatic action that is used to treat bacterial infections in dogs and cats.  Clindamycin in Antirobe Aquadrops 25mg binds to the bacterial ribosome, a structure involved in protein synthesis and this inhibits the early stages of bacterial protein synthesis, so that the bacteria cannot make important proteins required for survival of the bacteria and this kills the bacteria.  This action of clindamycin in Antirobe Aquadrops 25mg reduces bacterial growth and prevents the spread of infection.  Clindamycin in Antirobe Aquadrops 25mg concentrates in neutrophils, the white blood cells that fight infection, which concentrates the antibiotic at the site of infection.  Clindamycin in Antirobe Aquadrops 25mg is lipid soluble and, therefore, penetrates many body fluids and tissues, such as soft tissue, bone and joints; it also penetrates biofilms found in dental and bone infections.

What does Antirobe Aquadrops contain?

Antirobe Aquadrops 25mg contain the active ingredient clindamycin hydrochloride in solution (25mg/ml), an antibiotic used to treat bacterial infections in dogs and cats.
